Avalon initially pioneered the adaptation of helical scan tape recording technology to
instrumentation recording and continues to lead the field in the development
of S-VHS format recorders for wideband analog applications with a comprehensive range
of single and multi-channel 3, 8, 12 and 18 MHz S-VHS AE3000 Series of
cassette tape recorders (now discontinued). |

Avalon AE3000FL Series S-VHS Recorder
|
|
In
1997, Avalon pioneered the application of computer hard drives to ultra high
speed data recording. Its first commercial disk-based product (Model AE7000
- right) offered unrivalled analog bandwidths up
to 50 or 75 MHz and digital data throughputs
in excess of 1Gigabit/sec and was successfully deployed throughout the world.

Avalon AE7000 Disk Recorder
|
| In 2001, Avalon introduced its
first compact disk recorder (right). Designated Model
AE8222, this 12 MHz baseband recorder was designed primarily
as a straightforward replacement for legacy S-VHS cassette tape
recorders.
This was joined in 2003 by the Model
AE8250 series of 50 MHz recorders in the same form-factor as
AE8222. AE8250 is now available in a range of single and multi-channel
configurations including the AE8250MM
(1 ch. x 50 MHz baseband or IF recording) and the AE8250DC
(2 ch. x 25 MHz baseband and/or IF recording).

The latest addition to the Avalon product
family is the world-beating Model AE8400
SIGINT Disk Recorder
which extends IF recording to a bandwidth of 80 MHz (from IFs up to
160 MHz) and baseband (video) recording to 100 MHz bandwidth. |

in-house by Avalon engineers to meet the specific challenges of operation
without compromise under the most arduous field conditions. Through-life
performance and maintenance free operation are the hallmarks of all Avalon's
designs. The company is proud to claim that it has never discontinued
support for any one of its products since the first delivery in 1979!
Further testament to the reliability and durability of Avalon recorders is
demonstrated by the population of sixty units which have been in continuous front-line
